Profile
Chisomo M’baya is Lecturer (Food Safety and Hygiene) at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) under the Department of Public and Environmental Health since 2018. She teaches food safety and hygiene, meat hygiene, microbiology, nutrition and food security, research methods, occupational health and safety and entomology and vector control modules at the MUBAS. She also has experience in training food handlers on food safety and Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS). She is also experienced in grant application writing, research designing, managing both qualitative and quantitative data and proposal designing for ethical application.
She has worked with a number of research centers and consulting firms for example the Centre for Water Sanitation Health & Appropriate Technology Development (WASHTED) a research institution at Malawi University of Applied Sciences (MUBAS), the Center for Health, Agriculture and Development Research and Consulting and KLAS Research Engine, where she developed her passion and skills in research. Chisomo is passionate about nurturing young minds and fostering love for science, deeply committed to education and research. Her research interest is on One Health specifically in Infection Prevention and Control.
Nexleaf Data Analysis for Vaccine Temperature Monitoring, 2023
With funding from the McGovern Foundation, Nexleaf offered the PEHS department the assignment in partnership with the Ministry of Health to develop a certificate curriculum that helped to train EPI managers and EPI technicians in order to reduce the challenges faced in data use for decision making. This training assisted to reduce the challenges faced in terms of keeping the vaccine cold chain.
Zantchito Entreprenuership and Access to Finance (2023-2027)
The project is being implemented under the Business Incubation Centre. It foster entreprenuership skills among entreprenuers and fund their business ideas. The project is funded by EU through UNDP.
